If you have already signed up for session #2, please disregard this notification, unless you wish to take both sessions.
Mike Jackofsky will be doing a two day class hands-on Hollowing class. The class is limited to 8 (eight) students, and will be held will be held at Dale Larson's shop in Gresham (5010 SE Regner Rd, Gresham). Wait list is active in case the class is full.
Mike is very well known for his unique hollow forms, which are often natural edged from unique burls and with small openings and elegant bottoms. He also turns bowls, including thin natural edged open bowls, off balance asymmetric pieces, hollow forms with wings, and sculptural forms.
Mike is a professional woodturner from southern California who specializes in making hollow form vessels. Over the years Mike has created hundreds of pieces that have been displayed in galleries and museums around the world.
The class will cover all aspects of making hollow vessels, from selecting wood, to completing the piece, and students usually do 2 pieces per day.
Mike is also teaching a second class for Cascade, on October 20th and 21st.
Mike highly encourages people who are interested in learning hollowing from him to take both classes (all 4 days). Hollowing is something you only learn from repetition, and by taking all 4 days, it gives students a chance to understand the process better.
Mike tells people to bring whatever hollowing tools they already have. He will have a few of his Hollow-Pro tools to share, so people can try them, and will bring some tools with him that will be for sale at club discount prices.
